Virtual Summer Support will take place virtually, serving high need students in all elementary schools for five weeks (July 6-Aug 6). In coordination with the Virtual Summer Support Principal, Virtual Learning Support Teachers will prepare and facilitate distance learning activities in the following areas: Literacy and mathematics. All classes should be infused with elements of social-emotional learning (such as check-ins). Online classes will be made up of recommended students (present grades JK-5) and taught in small group virtual settings for up to three hours per day between 9AM and 12PM with up to an additional 1 hour per day for preparation time. Teachers will also engage in a once/week 30 minute staff meeting. Students will be assigned to the teacher in June, before the program begins. Grade level and student assignments will be made based on the needs of the students recommended. Teachers will be expected to stay in contact with parents and caregivers frequently at the onset and throughout the program.
Teachers will have access to some resources developed by the district math and ELA departments, in accordance with prerequisite standards outlined by DESE. However, teachers will be expected to plan lessons ensure that programming meets the identified and individual needs of students in their virtual classes.
The goal is to create a meaningful and differentiated learning opportunity that will meet our students' SEL, math and literacy needs.
Employment is contingent upon student enrollment.

Requirements:

The Elementary Summer Support Teacher must possess a commitment to equity and have demonstrated the ability to remotely build relationships with and effectively engage students from diverse backgrounds representing diverse learning styles and grade levels. Appropriate certification and highly qualified status under ESSA regulations is required for Summer Virtual Learning Support teachers. Preference will be given to regularly appointed teacher(s) from Cambridge Public School District and teachers from the school site where they are currently employed

Length of Contract: July 6- August 6, 9AM-12PM with 1 hour/prep daily; Mon-Fri (with up to 5 hours of training prior to the start of the program, during the week of June 28th)

Contract Amount: $35.00 per hour plus prep time outlined above (up to 105 hours, not to exceed $3,675)
