Commencing on July 1, 2019 and terminating on June 30, 2022 all new employees shall be compensated at a wage rate of fifteen percent (15%) below the contractual rate of pay. Wages for new employees will be increased in five percent (5%) increments annually on the anniversary of the date of hire. On June 30, 2022 new employees shall receive the full contractual rate.
Position: Supervising Occupational Therapist
Location: Administation Special Education
Reports to: Special Education Supervisor
Job Specifications:
To provide quality occupational therapy services including: assessment, intervention, program planning and
implementation, discharge planning and related documentation and communication. Service may take the form
of direct, monitored and consultative approaches. The Supervising OT will provide direct supervision for certified
occupational therapy assistants including observation, evaluations for students serviced by COTA staff.
Job Duties:
- Provide direct occupational therapy services to students consistent with IEP requirements.Provide consultation to classroom teachers and appropriate staff as needed and requried by students IEPs.Provide written reports on services provided and/or progress notes as required by the Speical Education Office.Willingness to work as an itinerant to cover all components of this assignment.Willingness to work with families of walk-in students on carry-over activities for the home setting.Completion of evaluations in compliance with laws and regulations including: scheduling, working with students, providing written evaluations in a timely fashion, providing goals for inplementation when appropriate.Documentation of services for Medicaid purposes.Direct supervision and guidence to COTA staff relative to evaluations, IEP goals, treatment strategies and activities for students assigned to therapy assistant caseload.Any/all duties that may be assigned by the Special Education Supervisor
Qualifications:
- License requried by the Rhode Island Departmen of Health: Occupational TherapistExperience working with students who are moderately/severly disabled.Minimun of 3 years experience working with school aged studentsMinimun of 3 years experience supervising COTA staff.
Salary range: In accordance with 1033 B.E.S.T. contract
Must complete all compliance videos prior to first day of work
Selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check. Selected candidates cannot begin work until passing their background check.
