License and Certification Qualifications: Meets Georgia certification requirements in appropriate field of study.

Education Qualifications: Master's degree in related field required.

Experience Qualifications: Previous counseling experience preferred. Background in a school setting preferred.

Skills Qualifications: Strong interpersonal skills, management, and leadership; ability to work with individuals, small groups, classroom groups, and collaboratively with stakeholders; ability to communicate effectively; demonstrated skills in oral and written communication; demonstrated skills in organization and problem solving; ability to analyze existing processes and identify areas for improvement; and ability to act as a representative of Gwinnett County Public Schools.

Primary Responsibilities: Responsible for supporting local college and career academy schools and district office personnel through consultation, collaboration, and programming that identifies and supports best practices for a developmental college and career program.

1. Manage the College and Career Center at the local school.

2. Create and implement college and career focused programming that support post-secondary education planning and career exploration for students.
a. Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with post-secondary and workforce development organizations.

3. Contribute to the school-wide advisement program in conjunction with the advisement team, to support career and post-secondary awareness, activities and opportunities.

4. Collaborate with the local school leadership to gather and disseminate current career information as it relates to the educational progression from middle school to gainful employment for the career clusters offered at the local academy school.

5. Collaborate with the Career Academy Coach at the local school to promote and support the mission and vision of college and career academy schools.

6. Demonstrate program accountability using data to document the results of strategies and interventions utilized to improve student academic performance.

7. Develop programs, in conjunction with the counseling department, to ensure on-time graduation for all students, which includes appropriate interventions.

8. Communicate effectively and consistently with students, parents/guardians, district and school personnel, and other stakeholders in a way that enhances student learning.

9. Maintain a positive culture to support student achievement.

c. Assist learners in developing goals and strategies to meet their potential.
d. Encourage positive home and school communications.

10. Perform other duties as assigned.
