BUILDING THE BRIDGE: A SUCCESSFUL TRANSITION TO MIDDLE SCHOOL

How will I open my locker and what is a padlock? How do I make new friends? I only have three minutes to get to each class... how do I do it? Where is the cafeteria and how do I get lunch paid for? What if all of the pizza is gone? These are all common questions and worries that many 5th graders have as they transition to middle school. This class, designed for incoming 6th graders, will introduce students to middle school in an effort to provide a smooth transition from elementary school. We will go over the basics such as how to open a locker and how to read your schedule to more in-depth topics including organization strategies, how to have a successful mindset for middle school, and lots of team building activities to form relationships with other students entering middle school.
