    JOB DESCRIPTION:
    Under direction of the Principal or designee the Humanities Coordinator is responsible for providing instruction and instructional leadership across the subject areas of English/Language Arts, Social Studies/History and World Language.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Establishes and adjusts instructional goals and objectives, to reflect district/school goals, curriculum policies, and the knowledge, skills, progress, and needs of one's students.
    • Designs lessons that provide opportunity for problem-solving, creativity, and communication skills in relation to authentic, real world problems.
    • Establishes standards for behavior that embrace social emotional learning.
    • Plans learning activities to address individual differences among students.
    • Commits to on-going professional development in content area and pedagogy.
    • Develops, administers, and evaluates quality formative and summative assessments that reflect a balance of content knowledge and problem-solving skills.
    • Monitors and evaluates students' progress in relation to planned goals and objectives.
    • Involves parents in the assessment of their children's progress and needs.
    • Provide instructional feedback and peer support to Humanities teachers
    • Facilitate PLC's and monitoring of student learning (attendance, academic, behavior)
    • Planning, developing, implementing and monitoring the reading/language arts, social studies/history and world language programs, as well as assisting in the coordination of relevant staff development and professional learning activities.
    • Provide support and leadership for the development of interdisciplinary learning units.
    • Align humanities instruction with the broader school-wide curriculum and career pathways
    • Serve as part of school's leadership team.
    • Serve as school testing coordinator
    • Model effective, research based instructional practices for staff
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Required certification: English (015) or a literacy/reading (097 / 102) or Social Studies (026) and Educational leadership (092) is preferred
    • Five years' successful teaching experience in an urban setting preferred
    • Proficient in the use of educational technology
    • Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills

    Salary will be in accordance with the BEA contract salary schedule.
