Job Summary
The Truck Driver/Warehouse Specialist is responsible for loading food, supplies, equipment, and other items on trucks and making deliveries to units or schools according to a prescribed schedule.

Job Requirements
The following are required:
  1. A high school diploma or equivalent.Two years of experience in truck driving and delivery work. Work experience must evidence ability to perform tasks assigned.Must possess a valid Alaska class B commercial driver's license.Must obtain a food handler's card within two weeks of beginning employment.Ability to operate various sizes of trucks skillfully and safely.Ability to load and unload delivery trucks involving extensive walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, securing goods and stacking.Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with others.Ability to accommodate shifts subject to seasonal changes.

The following are preferred:
  1. Ability to perform minor, non-technical service to trucks, forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment.Ability to become knowledgeable of assigned routes and locations on individual delivery schedules.

Essential Job Functions
  1. Loads all food supplies and related items on trucks and makes deliveries to schools or units according to a prescribed schedule.Assists in warehouse duties such as filling requisitions, sorting, packing loading and unloading items such as food service elementary pre-plate meals, a la carte supplies, food products from vendors for distribution to schools, mail, books, supplies, furniture, equipment, films and audio visual equipment, and teaching aids.Picks up and delivers items from one location to another on request.Assists in record keeping, shelving, arranging labeling, sorting and storing of warehouse supplies.Operates forklift, electrical and manual pallet jacks, 2.5 ton trucks, flatbed trucks, step vans, pickup trucks, and power tailgates.Crushes cardboard.

Physical/Mental Demands
  • This position routinely requires lifting up to 100 pounds, with or without accommodations, and may require lifting over 100 pounds with assistance.

The employee must have the ability to effectively manage the stress of working with students, parents, and other employees representing diverse cultures, personalities, and work styles in a dynamic work environment.

While performing the duties of this job the employee may be regularly exposed to a video display. The employee may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
