    Assistant Principal
    Full-time 10 Month position

    As a member of the Administrative Team, the assistant principal works directly with the principal in an administrative capacity on personnel issues, school programs, and long-term planning. The assistant principal is directly accountable to the principal and pastor. The assistant principal upholds the educational policies and procedures of the Chicago Archdiocese and provides and educational environment that promotes the mission of Catholic education.

    REQUIREMENTS
    • Bachelor's degree
    • Certified Illinois licensed teacher
    • Applicant must pass a background check and complete required Virtus training
    • Practicing Catholic preferred
      AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

      Instructional Assistance
    • Create and implement daily teacher schedule including recess and lunch supervision
    • Arrange substitutions for teacher absences
    • Assist with implementation of standardized testing
    • Assists principal in interviewing teaching positions
    • May require class instruction in extraordinary situation
    • Oversee curriculum development and student assessment tool
    • If Catholic, may assist Campus Minister as needed with liturgical planning
      Student and Family Liaison
    • Establish and maintain positive relationships with students and families
    • Facilitate and implement attendance intervention
    • Develop and enforce student disciplinary policies
    • Motivate students to develop personal responsibility, decision-making and self-confidence
    • Communicate with students and parents regarding student behavioral issues, mental health, attendance irregularities and discipline
    • Collaborates with administration team on student scholarship awards
    • Provides expertise to key stakeholders in the school community including parents, parish members and the school board and community leaders
    • Provide administrative presence at assigned school functions
    • Assist marketing director with Catholic Schools Week Open House and activities

      Operations
    • Oversee safety drills: fire, tornado, lock down
    • Coordinate with police and fire department on safety plans
    • Assists with arrival and dismissal of students
    • Assists with writing grants
    • May assist principal in managing scholarships and donations
    • Assists operations director in managing school resources
    • Coordinates aftercare program
    • Supports student uniform programs
    • Develop and implement Covid procedures including recess procedures, lunch procedures, bathroom and locker break procedures. Also oversee adherence to quarantine and travel procedures
    • Other duties as assigned
