Program Dates 6/7 - 7/12/19, Program Hours 8:15a-1:45p Teacher work/prep day: 6/7 Please see below for PD dates and times All Summer Hires are contingent upon final confirmation of program funding This posting is only for one HUB - serving Chabot, Cleveland, Crocker, Emerson, Hillcrest, Kaiser, Montclair, Peralta, Piedmont, Sankofa, Thornhill Site Leader/Summer School Principal Position purpose: To lead the Springboard Summer program by coaching teachers, partnering with family members, and driving student reading growth. Who we're looking for: A literacy expert with extensive PreK-3rd grade content knowledge. A problem solver who uses data and builds relationships to reach goals. A coachable leader with a desire to grow as a professional. A manager with exceptional communication, organization, and critical thinking skills. A believer in our collective opportunity to close the literacy achievement gap through hard work and meaningful collaboration with parents and families. Responsibilities: Lead programming Set a positive, welcoming, achievement-driven culture with a focus on student reading growth, family collaboration, and program fidelity. Communicate program expectations and results regularly with families, Teachers, and the Springboard team. Coordinate pre-programming preparation including materials delivery, family orientation, home visits, class rostering, and student assessment. Collaborate with Springboard colleagues to proactively plan for success and address challenges. Plan the end-of-program Learning Bonus Celebration. Coach and manage Teachers Lead weekly Professional Learning Community (PLC) meetings to prepare Teachers for family workshops and high-quality instruction. Observe instruction and review lesson plans and action plans, providing frequent feedback to Teachers while supporting their personal-professional goals. Co-plan and lead school-based professional development on family engagement and assessment and data driven instruction. Conduct make-up PD for Teachers as needed. Build partnerships with family members Support enrollment and home visits for 100% completion. Communicate program details and expectations to families. Conduct outreach for family workshops and coordinate and lead make-up workshops as needed. Distribute goal letters, action plan letters, and award letters to families. Utilize data to meet performance metrics Review baseline and ending assessments for completeness and fidelity of administration. Participate in weekly solutions-oriented meetings to review data and address challenges. Ensure every scholar receives a high-quality action plan. Keep complete and timely data on all aspects of programming. Participate in mid-programming reflection and an end of programming debrief. Time Commitment and Compensation: The Site Leader position is 30 hours of work per week for 5 weeks. You will receive an extended contract for 28 days; 6 hours per day; at your hourly per diem rate. Site Leaders may submit OUSD in-service forms for facilitation/participation in any PD sessions prior to beginning of summer program. Site Leaders should expect to attend or lead approximately 18 hours of professional development (PD). PD/Orientation Dates and Hours: April 23 4-6:30 p.m. (Orientation) May (date tbd) 4:00 - 6:00 (Family Engagement PD) May (date tbd) 4:00 - 6:00 (Assessment PD) June 1st 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. (Leadership Summit) June 4th, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. (Instructional Seminar)
