Camp Aristotle at The Auburn School is a unique summer camp program that offers full-day and half-day options for students in primary and secondary education. Camp Aristotle offers an academically-based curriculum with opportunities in art, adventure, coding, comics, creating, exploring, gardening, puzzles, escape rooms, movie creation, news broadcasting, photography, music appreciation, space exploration, fantastic beasts, gaming, science, theater, and more. Social learning development is integrated throughout the curriculum. Many students at Camp Aristotle experience challenges associated with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), High Functioning Autism, Anxiety-Related Disorders, ADHD, NLVD, ED, and Expressive & Receptive Communication Challenges; however, not all campers have a formal diagnosis.

Position

We are seeking summer camp teachers for our campus. Teachers will work as teams in a collaborative environment with instructional assistants and other related services providers. Responsibilities include planning and implementing daily lessons and activities with an inclusion of the weekly themes and attending staff meetings. Camp Aristotle will run from June 28, 2021 to August 6, 2021; availability for three to six weeks required, in addition to orientation and necessary prerequisite training dates in June.

Desired Qualifications

We are seeking applicants who are passionate about helping students learn, have fun, develop friendships, and take risks. Camp Aristotle is looking for enthusiastic, energetic, creative, and qualified individuals who enjoy working with children.

Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree (or coursework toward Master's) preferred.

Track record of successful teaching and/or camp experience.

Experience with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD and/or NVLD strongly preferred.

Experience with multisensory instruction and assistive learning technologies also helpful.

Sound understanding of, and sensitivity to, children and adolescents with special learning challenges.

Comfortable communicating with parents as needed.

Strong behavior management skills. Experience with ABA and/or social learning training is a plus.

Commitment to professional excellence, collaboration with team members, punctuality, and attendance.

Enthusiastic about the opportunity to teach students with social and communication challenges.
