Essex Westford School District has an anticipated opening for a dynamic math teacher to teach students grades 7-8 at Albert D. Lawton School. This anticipated full-time position is expected to begin in the 2021-2022 school year.

EWSD is seeking candidates with a genuine interest, appreciation, and love of middle school students. Seeking candidates with a thorough understanding of middle level best practices, strong content knowledge, and a commitment to collaboration in a professional learning community focused on supporting all students in achieving at high levels.

Additional qualifications needed include:
  • Valid Educator license with middle-level and elementary-level math endorsements (2-11 or 3-11)
  • Dedication to providing a safe, welcoming, and respectful learning environment for students.
  • Commitment to the success of ALL students, and ability to understand and teach to the various learning styles of students.
  • The ability and enthusiasm to effectively engage and inspire students to excel in math.
  • Understanding of the Common Core Standards as they relate to math.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in developing standards-based units, assessments, and reports, differentiated instruction to support learning for all students, and formative assessment to provide student feedback and to improve student learning outcomes.
  • Excellent teaching, organizational, planning, written and oral communication, creative and collaborative skills. Ability to be a contributing member of an established interdisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement in the areas of knowledge and professional practice and a willingness to take risks as a continuous active learner as part of our professional learning community.
  • Ability to effectively integrate social and emotional learning in the classroom to help all students succeed

For column placement on the salary schedule we consider credits earned after the date of your degree (bachelor's or master's) in which you received a grade of B or better. For step placement, we grant one step for every year of previous public school teaching experience for the first five years, then one step for every two years of public school teaching experience thereafter.
