The Special Education Compliance Coordinator ensures that all policies and procedures that define the operations of a compliant special education department are provided support and guidance as necessary and supports the special education team with the development of a state testing plan for students with disabilities.

Essential Functions:Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.
  • Reviews metrics of compliancy due dates; decides if Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and/or Evaluation Team Reports need to be created and/or amended, makes revisions as necessary;
  • Ensures IEPs are fully compliant and meet state standards;
  • Provides support and guidance to the school staff while ensuring their processes and policies are compliant in initial and re-evaluations;
  • Coordinates the state testing of students with disabilities with the state testing team to ensure all students with disabilities test and receive their allowable accommodations;
  • Develops a staggered series training for intervention specialists new to OHVA; correlates training sessions with the general education teacher training sessions; leads the series of training sessions as needed;
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of the training sessions by ensuring mastery of the objectives by each participant;
  • Serves as a mentor to intervention specialists requiring additional support as identified by the Lead Teacher or Special Education Manager to ensure state compliance; coordinates a mentor intervention specialist program; provides support and resources to mentors;
  • Collaborates with Special Education Manager to determine professional development needs for both special education department and full staff.

This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • State of Ohio licensure as a School Psychologist or Intervention Specialist
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education AND
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in the special education field OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc.); Web proficiency.
  • Ability to travel 20% of the time
  • Ability to pass required background check

Desired Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree
  • Working knowledge of Ohio special education processes
