    • Title: Elementary School Social Worker, Grades Preschool-8th

    Status: Part-Time (2-3 days per week)

    Position Description:

    The School Social Worker is directly accountable to the Principal and works within the scope of St. Edward School's mission statement.

    Essential Job Functions:
    • Serve as the primary resource for administrators, faculty/staff, and parents in working with students in grades Preschool - 8 to create a positive learning environment and help students develop a positive self-concept.

    • Work closely with the Principal to address behavioral/emotional/social concerns/needs.

    • Assist with crisis intervention, de-escalation, and help process serious events.

    • Observe students of concern in the classroom, lunchroom, and recess; document and report back to teachers, administration, and/or parents with findings.

    • Collaborate with outside therapists/counselors/psychologists to coordinate student learning with clinical therapy work.

    • Provide 1-1 short-term solution-focused counseling to students who drop in, request a check-in, or have been referred by a teacher or administrator.

    • Assist with the development of positive student behavior support systems and development of intervention strategies.

    • Provide/conduct interventions to help improve students' functioning.

    • Consult with parents to discuss home and school behavior/emotional issues, as needed.


    Qualifications:
    • All qualified applicants must have a degree in counseling, social work, or related field. Master's degree in counseling/social work is preferred

    • LCSW status preferred

    • Experience in an educational setting preferred

    • Clear communication skills

    • Strong organizational skills

    • Comfortable with technology in a variety of settings
