Primary Purpose:
Work under close supervision and follow established procedures to maintain accounting records and process accounts payables according to standard accounting procedures.
Qualifications (Experience/Education/Certification):
High School Diploma or GED
Knowledge of basic accounting procedures; ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets, databases and do word processing; proficient in keyboarding, 10-key numeric data entry, and file maintenance.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Two years accounting-related experience at clerical level.

Working Conditions (Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Demands):
Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting. Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching. Occasional lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds). Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions; may work prolonged or irregular hours.

Major Responsibilities:
- Receive and process for timely payment all accounts payable invoices, requisitions, purchase orders, receipts, and vendor information. Verify invoices and purchases orders to ensure completeness and accuracy prior to payment.
- Detect and resolve problems with incorrect orders, invoices, and shipments as needed.
- Assist with the preparation of bidding documents including notice and instruction to bidders, specifications, and proposal forms.
- Input data into financial software.
- Maintain school district inventory of fixed assets.
- Prepare correspondence, forms, manuals, reports, and payment authorizations following district standard and requirements.
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required.
- Prepare and maintain vendor database and bidder lists.
- Receive incoming calls, answer questions, and direct calls to the proper party.
- Operate the district mailroom.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to use standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals.
- Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with staff, students, parents, and community
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles
