PURPOSE OF JOB: This is a grant-funded position to support implementation of Restorative Justice practices within the school community during the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 school years.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Restorative Justice coordinators will:
Build a strong school culture of achievement and respect based on principles of Restorative Justice.
Collaborate with other school leaders to assess and further develop implementation of the Restorative Justice Program.
Provide coaching and professional development on classroom management, classroom culture and restorative practices.
Manage student intervention referrals.
Serve as liaison between parents, staff and students when managing student discipline issues and intervention plans.
Other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors Degree in education or relevant field.
Ability to speak clearly and concisely in written and oral communication.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff parents, students.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to use technology, i.e., internet, e-mail, Microsoft Word, Student Data Management Software.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience facilitating restorative practice interventions with youth, families and adults.
