GENERAL PURPOSE

Responsible for supervising student transportation services and activities; overseeing assigned personnel; providing information to others; and scheduling work assignments within established timeframes and standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Assess incidents and/or complaints regarding services in order to resolve or recommend a resolution to the appropriate administrative personnel.

Conduct routing reviews of driver performance ensuring work quality, performance and production, and established standards and expectations.

Coordinate transportation scheduling with district personnel and students' guardians in order to implement and maintain services and/or programs.

Implement assigned activities and/or projects as assigned delivering services in compliance with established guidelines.

Maintain driver personnel records and other mandated information thus meeting regulatory requirements.

Monitor payroll and related financial activities using proper fiscal practices ensuring allocations are accurate and expenses are within budget limits.

Oversee schedules and performance of bus drivers prioritizing project deadlines and ensuring optimal utilization of personnel.

Participate in meetings, workshops and seminars to convey and/or gather information required to perform functions.

Perform duties of bus driver as required.

Prepare a variety of materials in order to document activities, provide written reference, and/or convey information.

Recommend policies, procedures, and/or actions providing direction for meeting Department's goals and objectives

Perform other related duties as required/assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.

Certificates, Licenses and Other Special Requirements

Class "B" CDL with passenger, air brake, and school bus endorsements.

Pre-Placement Physical Capacities Test

Random Drug and Alcohol Testing

Must pass a Criminal Background Clearance.

Knowledge of algebra and/or geometry; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Work environment is primarily inside, where the noise and temperature levels are moderate.

The work is very heavy work that requires exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Must possess the physical ability to work primarily with fingers, perceive the nature of sounds, make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes, express or exchange ideas by the spoken word, substantial movements (motions) with the hands, wrists, and/or fingers, and discern letters or numbers at a given distance.

Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: feeling, hearing, manual dexterity, mental acuity, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
