NOTE:
We have three Grade 1-3 elementary buildings and plan on hiring two academic interventionists per elementary school for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year.(total of 6 positions).

The principals will conduct group interviews with selected candidates and work together to determine the best fit for the candidates interviewed.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Academic Intervention Teacher

Qualifications:

1. Current Wyoming PTSB certification as Highly Qualified Teacher


2. Prior relevant teaching experience required

Reports To: Building Principal

Job Goal: To help students develop and build proficient content level skills that will contribute to their academic growth.


Responsibilities: Academic interventionists work extensively with students to help them improve specific skills and strategies. An interventionist addresses the specific needs of a particular child when regular classroom instruction is not sufficient. Interventionists work with the teacher to design methods of learning that are most appropriate for each child using Multi-Tiered Systems of Support.

Performance Responsibilities:
  1. Diagnoses and prescribes for student academic and effective strengths and weaknesses, evaluates student progress and achievement, and continually seeks to motivate students for learning.
  2. Help teachers diagnose strengths and weaknesses and match these skills with appropriate techniques and materials.
  3. Work with the classroom teacher and district personnel to coordinate instruction designed to meet the individual needs of students including ELL identified students, general education students, and Special Education Students as part of the building MTSS system.
  4. Knowledgeable in the appropriate use of MTSS and tiered instructional programs.
  5. Maintains records as required by the appropriate programs.
  6. Use evidence based assessments to diagnose learning needs to target instruction and track their progress.
  7. Provides evidence based intervention and remediation for students. Progress monitors student's growth and adapts instruction to assure students meet learning targets.
  8. Creates and manages a teaching environment conducive to student learning.
  9. Communicates regularly with parents, teachers and MTSS team, regarding student progress.
  10. Maintains confidentiality of information regarding colleagues, students, and parents.
  11. Maintains adequate and current knowledge of developments within the respective teaching areas and within the areas of instruction and learning.
  12. Performs such other tasks and duties as assigned by the supervisor.
