Virtual School Instructor

Qualifications:
  • Possess appropriate Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board Teaching Certification
  • Elementary or Secondary Level Content or Special Education Certification by course as needed
  • Special Education Certification as needed
  • Complete 7 hours of annual professional development specific to Virtual Education (0.5 PTSB credits)
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills

Reports to: Director of Virtual Student Learning and Management

Supervises: None

Job Status: Extra Duty Assignment. Virtual instruction is to take place outside the regular

school day schedule.

Nature and Scope of the Job: To act under the general direction of the Director to direct, coordinate,

organize, and perform assigned and related duties dealing with the virtual education of assigned

students and the specific content areas

Essential Functions:
  • Provide instructional support for students enrolled in the Fremont Virtual Program.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents, and schools
  • Work cooperatively with school counseling staff to develop a learning plan/schedule for the student that promotes success towards defined goals.
  • Work closely with the teachers and case managers to accommodate required accommodations (i.e. 504 plans, IEPs, etc.). Appropriately utilize Service Providers to meet these requirements.
  • Highly skilled at implementing exemplary educational practices resulting in demonstrated student achievement gains
  • Exhibit knowledge of standards-based curriculum and instructional programs and practices for assigned grade levels
  • Demonstrate operational knowledge of Internet and Web-related technologies
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders in the Virtual Instruction Program in written and oral form, including electronic media, using positive interpersonal skills
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, manage and carry out duties efficiently and within established timeframes
  • Knowledge or demonstrated ability to adapt to curriculum and instructional best practices for online learning
  • Monitor student progress toward course completion goals through Acellus (or other selected programs).
  • Communicate regularly with enrolled students and their families through email, phone calls, and/or video conferencing tools (such as Google Meets or Zoom).
  • Provide quarterly reports reflecting student progress to families through report cards.
  • Track attendance for both students and parents (or responsible adults) through Acellus.
  • Communicate with families a minimum of one email/text update per week, to make necessary adjustments to the learning plan/schedule to address poor performance or attendance.
  • Communicate student progress with Virtual School Administration. Proactively notify Administration of any issues that are prohibiting the success of the student.
  • Provide live support, either through phone or video conferencing or office hours, a minimum of two days a week.
  • Provide asynchronous support Monday through Friday.
