    Salary: $25.89 per hour for Registered Nurse or per Salary Schedule of Teachers Contract for ISBE PEL with School Nurse endorsement
    Work Schedule: 7:15 a.m. - 3:15 p.m,, Monday - Friday until June 15, 2021

    This position will be supporting a student on a 1:1 basis including riding the bus with the student each day. The position will continue in the 2021-2022 school year with the possibility of a slight adjustment to hours based on the bus schedule.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. State of Illinois Registered professional nurse, designated as R.N. or ISBE PEL with School Nurse endorsement, required.
    2. Effective communication skills.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    (Note: This is the list of competencies where although expertise is expected, specific roles and functions will vary depending upon assignment)

    A. Communication/Collaboration
    - demonstrates collaborative problem solving
    - communicates in an effective, constructive, and positive manner with staff, students, and parents.
    - interacts positively and effectively with school personnel, including administrators, teachers, paraprofessionals, building staff, etc., as an effective team member
    - promotes positive public relations
    B. Provision of Health Services
    a) maintenance and analysis of student health records.
    b) prepares, records, updates and tracks referrals on vision and hearing screenings.
    c) may record heights and weights of students and provide necessary health counseling (i.e., on diet and excercise) for students.
    d) maintains files on incoming physical exams, dental exams, immunizations, new student records, referral results, notes from physicians and parent correspondence.
    e) assists with formulation and maintenance of health concerns
    - maintains confidentiality of both academic and health records.
    - provides emergency intervention for students and/or staff in the event of sudden illness or injury.
    a) reports emergencies to and seeks guidance from the school nurse team leader if uncertain about a district policy, procedure, or state mandates.
    b) initiates student accident reports as per district policy.
    c) keeps a daily log of all visits to the health office
    d) provides summary reports including immunization surveys, vision and hearing conservation reports, health office visit year end report, weekly communicable disease report to CCDPH, year end inventory of supplies and health office equipment.
    - assists teachers in their requests for health-related teaching and audio-visual
    materials.
    - assists students, staff and parents in health office related matters.
    - maintains active licensure for registered nurse and current certification in CPR.
    - administers and monitors medication given at school, subject to district policy
    regarding the administration of medication.
    - assists in child abuse referrals as needed.
    - assists the school nurse team leader in inservicing of staff on specialized
    health procedures, medical conditions
    and Bloodborne Pathogens/Universal Precautions.
    - takes medical histories of students who are undergoing case study evaluation
    prior to review and signature of the school nurse.
    C. Professional Responsibilities

    - demonstrates knowledge of special education legislation and acts in accordance with these mandates
