Content Designer, Professional Learning Design

Note: This is a 14-month contract opportunity.

Position S ummary ...

The Content Designer creates learning activities and interactions, working collaboratively with Professional Learning Design colleagues, Professional Learning Services and Operations, Product Managers, Partner Accounts, other cross-organizational representatives, and external partners to create high-quality professional learning offerings. This position reports to the Content Design Manager.

Responsibilities ...

  • Design learning activities for the professional learning offering, integrating our design frame, principles, and standards, as well as the IACET criteria
  • Lead the design of the project across several phases of development
  • Define optimal learning modalities and coordinate online and onsite offerings
  • Collaborate with the Learning & Innovation Specialist on analysis, evaluation, application of feedback, learning targets/success criteria, and content outlines
  • Identify and coordinate subject matter experts on design contributions
  • Collaborate with Instructional Designers in User Assistance/Professional Learning Design for a seamless partner experience in learning the why, what, and how of the product
  • Collaborate with the Asset Design Manager on ways to innovate materials and assist with development of partner-facing materials
  • Collaborate with the Services Design Liaison and Staff Professional Learning Trainers to strengthen professional learning offerings
  • Plan and oversee efforts related to beta and user experience testing
  • Be conversant with research concerning national trends in education as applied to curriculum, pedagogy, standards, and delivery methods
  • Understand national trends in curriculum, standards, alignment, and instructional practice, evaluating their impact and efficacy as they relate to professional learning design
  • Travel, as required, for team and/or organizational meetings as well as oversight and gathering of feedback related to beta and piloting work

  • Skilled in initiating and drawing upon innovative and creative ideas in the design of NWEA Professional Learning products and services
  • Deep understanding of the issues pertinent to content, curriculum, delivery methods, and instruction as they relate to professional learning
  • Deep understanding of NWEA products and services, or ability to rapidly acquire such knowledge
  • Demonstrated skill and ability in designing high quality, professional learning activities, materials, and resources
  • Ability to work effectively and manage projects in a fast-paced, growing organization
  • Ability to facilitate individual and team conversations to elicit ideas and "collective knowledge" from a variety of educational professionals and stakeholders throughout the Analysis, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate (ADDIE) phases of NWEA Professional Learning product development
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with a wide variety of educators and internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ongoing commitment to learning and growing
  • Ability to recognize and work from a strategic, systems perspective
  • Ability to work independently and as a contributing team member
  • Ability to assess the effectiveness of processes and procedures and recommend improvements

Education and E xperience ...

  • Master's degree in educational curriculum or a closely related field preferred
  • Three or more years teaching or administration in a K-12 school setting required
  • Three or more years of experience in applying K-12 curricular concepts to professional learning required
  • Three or more years of experience in the development of professional learning curriculum required
  • Three or more years of experience in the development of materials for facilitators/consultants preferred
  • Three or more years delivering professional learning for educators required
  • Experience developing or providing professional learning on a national level required
  • Comprehensive experience in "school reform/improvement" and organizational change
