Description: Provides quality early education and child care for children, age’s six-weeks-old through school-age. Creates and maintains an environment for positive experiences for children, families and communities served and leadership to Brightside Academy employees.

Qualifications/Requirements: As a highly professional individual, you will be accountable for an academy that meets the highest state credential requirements, incorporates Brightside Academy’s purpose, organizational goals, values and policies. Your primary focus will be educational student outcomes and the development of positive relationships and on-going collaboration with parents, children, families and the communities we serve. A successful lead academy director must be an excellence champion, able to adequately perform each essential duty, a parent-interaction leader, community connected and have the following education, experience and abilities:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or related field (child development, special education, elementary education or human service field with 30 ECE credits) with one-year experience with children.
  • Minimum of three-five years documented supervisory experience (ECE experience preferred).
  • Demonstrated customer service communication skills, including oral and written. Demonstrated process- and organization-oriented skills.
  • Large scale academy experience that provides a broad view of ECE skills preferred. Ability to frequently lift or move weight as in lifting, carrying or holding children and infants of 10-60 lbs.
  • Ability to effectively read, write and communicate the English language. Bilingualism is a plus.

Essential Duties: Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develops strong relationships with families to enhance learning both inside and outside of the classroom.
  • Conducts parent and child interviews prior to enrollment.
  • Acts as a liaison between teachers and parents addressing problems and answering questions regarding all aspects of academy operations.
  • Collaborates with other departments within Brightside Academy to ensure alignment and integrated execution of the Brightside Academy operating plan at the academy. Functional areas include but are not limited to education, marketing, human resources, finance, collections, transportation, food service and facilities.
  • Ensures academy-wide compliance with all federal, state and local laws, regulations and guidelines, as well as company policies and procedures. Proactively looks for ways to mitigate risk.

Team:
  • Leads, inspires and energizes the team to accomplish the Brightside Academy purpose, values and business objectives.
  • Motivates staff by maintaining a positive attitude and leading by example. Creates a positive enjoyable work environment, maintaining confidentiality, encouraging trust and loyalty among all academy employees.
  • Provides development opportunities, proactively manages retention risks associated change.
  • Articulates clear standards and expectations, asks questions and actively listens, and gives timely and effective feedback; invites and engages in productive dialogue, using a variety of communication and leadership skills to engage and develop academy staff.
  • Holds individuals and team accountable to performance expectations, rewarding and recognizing results and behavior appropriately; completes annual evaluations for all assigned academy staff. Assesses, develops and monitors academy team to ensure high quality, child care services.
  • Provides frequent and concise communication to academy staff about company matters.

Lead Director Responsibilities/Requirements:
  • Partner with and coach new academy leadership and support the development of their quality lens.
  • Observe, coach, and provide feedback on leadership approach and style.
  • Reviewing, providing feedback and assisting new leadership in the reflection assessments (formal as well as informal) of academy staff.
  • Model appropriate leadership style practices for new leadership.
  • As a highly professional individual, you will be accountable for supporting new academy leadership training and ensure that they meet the standards of quality as outlined by Brightside Academy, regulatory agencies, quality programs, and partners.
  • Working knowledge of licensing and/or partnering agency regulations and performance standards.
  • Knows, articulates, and remains current on best practices in professional development, adult learning principles, and early childhood education.
  • Ability to facilitate the coordination of multiple tasks and manage a variety of projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to build effective partnerships and foster team building internally and externally.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to lead productive meetings.
  • High level of professional conduct and positive approaches.
  • Ability to use technology such as iPads, and other educational resources and skilled in learning and navigating online systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently as well as collaboratively make appropriate and rational judgments and decisions, reason effectively, and solve problems.
  • Must be able to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse educational, social economic, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, including expressive (written and oral) as well as receptive skills.
  • Ability to effectively read, write and communicate the English language; Bilingualism is a plus.
