Position Summary
The Teacher (Career Technical Instruction) demonstrates knowledge of the general characteristics of children with disabilities from all categories. Must have knowledge of Georgia career technical education programs, development and implementation of the IEP,
and development of transition plans. Assist students with disabilities in transitioning from school to college and career. Support opportunities for post-secondary education and/or employment. .
Key Responsibilities
• Provide support services to students with disabilities enrolled in career and technical programs to ensure successful
program completion.
• Coordinate student's course of study with post-secondary outcomes through the IEP.
• Participate in the development and implementation of the transition goals/activities section of the IEP.
• Counsel parents, teachers, students and faculty to assure correct CTAE placement and scheduling.
• Administer technical and career assessments of interests and abilities.
• Supervise/Monitor students on school/field-based CTI trips.
• Provide work-based learning experiences for secondary students with disabilities.
• Establish/monitor community-based Vocational Instruction sites.
• Work collaboratively with Vocational Rehabilitation and other business partners to assure successful post-secondary
outcomes for high school SWDs.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator.
• Required to attend scheduled shift during regular business hours as mandated
Requirements :
Education:Bachelor's degree in Special Education is required. Master's, Specialist, Doctorate degree preferred.
Certification:Must hold a valid Georgia Professional Certification in Special Education and Career Technology Instruction.
Work Experience: 5 years of successful experience teaching/working with students with disabilities
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
The candidate will have knowledge of disabled youths, Georgia's career technical education programs, development and use of the IEP. Candidates should know principles of career development, employability and retention, and implement techniques for assisting students and their parents in making educational and occupational choices.
Compensation :
Salary Grade: T4-T7
Salary Range: APS Teacher Salary Scale
