NATURE OF POSITION:
Under the direction of the Director II - Teacher Talent Acquisition and Engagement, the Evaluation Specialist will support administrators, supervisors, educators, and system employees in all aspects of the employee evaluation system, including but not limited to: self-assessment, goal setting, plan development, collection of evidence, and formative and summative assessments; work with a variety of individuals and serve as liaisons between schools, offices, district content experts, administrators, and executive-level administrators to ensure the performance evaluation process supports effective teaching in every classroom, effective leadership in all schools, and effective performance of non-teaching personnel; work year-round on training, support, and capacity building throughout the district.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Considerable knowledge of all District and State evaluation systems; ability to work under tight deadlines achieving goals successfully; ability to analyze complex data and communicate effectively verbally and in writing; strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present information to large and small groups; ability to build and sustain positive working relationships with all DPS constituents, and external partners; demonstrated project management experience; proficient with technology including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google (Docs, Slides, Sheets); exceptional time management and interpersonal communication skills.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from an accredited undergraduate program in education. Must hold or be eligible for Virginia teaching license. Minimum of five (5) years of successful classroom/teaching experience. Master's degree preferred.
START DATE: As soon as possible after selection
SALARY / STIPEND: Salary Range: $79,472 - $115,234 annually, depending on experience and advanced degrees. Danville School Board pays the employee cost, in full, for state-mandated life insurance; and in part for state retirement and health insurance. Other benefits - sick, personal, and annual (vacation) leave.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Train principals and other administrators on all performance evaluation systems and evaluation procedures
- Collaborate with District departments to develop training programs aimed at aligning employee performance with organizational goals
- Provide ongoing oversight and support to ensure that performance measures are being used to effectively
- Assist with developing and implementing performance improvement plans
- Facilitate and coordinate with District departments and administrators in planning of the performance evaluation of employees on completion of their probation period and for annual assessment
- Ensure that the performance evaluation data are entered into Frontline or other tracking documents
- Guide and assist administrators in setting performance objectives for the coming year and ensure tracking of the same
- Develop and implement technology used to support evaluation
- Create reports for District use and analysis
- Support educator and educational support personnel self-assessment, goal setting and growth plan development
- Work toward building systems in each school and location that will be able to provide ongoing support to teachers and educational support personnel in the realm of evaluation
- Provide technical assistance to principals and other administrators to drive evaluation rollout success in every school and location
- Support the culture of effective teaching and learning and utilize performance evaluation processes to gauge effectiveness
- Research and initiate alternative methods or programs for educator observation and evaluation in collaboration with District instructional administrators
- Collaborate with the Director II - Professional Learning to implement professional learning related to evaluations
- Revise evaluation systems as required by updates at the State level
- Collaborate with the Director III - Assessment and State Reporting on key elements of the evaluation program that are related to student assessments
- Collaborate with the offices within the Department of Curriculum and Instruction on student growth measures and other key elements of evaluation systems that are related to instruction
- Create and lead the creation of reports that provide and track metrics related to employee performance and evaluation
- Coordinate the implementation of evaluation related initiatives
- Perform other duties as assigned
