Brief Description The Driver Instructor assists the Transportation Area Supervisor in interviews for hiring, classroom instruction for drivers, behind-the-wheel training, on-the-job training, and retraining instruction, and other duties as assigned.
Detailed Description • Coordinates and instructs all areas of training and staff education provided by the Training Division
• Assists with new hire interviews
• Assists in preparation of materials for training purposes
• Performs field and ride-along observations as needed
• Serves as a bus driver or as a bus attendant
• Performs related work as directed Job Requirements QUALIFICATIONS
• Commercial Driver's License with school bus and passenger endorsements
• Meets requirements for school bus driver
• Obtains certification within six months of employment as a Virginia school bus driver trainer, a third-party DMV tester, First Aid, and CPR Instructor
• Completion of high school and experience in operating a school bus or possess an equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the duties
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and to communicate effectively
• Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, bus drivers, bus attendants, parents, and the general public
• Knowledge of office procedures and ability to use general office software

The Driver Instructor reports to the Transportation Area Supervisor.
