Intervention Teaching Assistant

Mullen Hall School

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma
  • Ability and desire to work with children in need of supportive interventions
  • Experience related to positive behavioral interventions or a willingness to engage in professional development
  • Strong organizational skills (planning, implementing, assessing, adjusting)
  • Ability to work collaboratively with adults and children
  • Strong problem solving ability
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Such other alternatives as the Superintendent of Schools may deem acceptable or appropriate

Responsibilities:
  • Update and report out to administration discipline logs and correspondence
  • Structure recess duties/activities
  • Participate in Staff Meetings
  • Participate in Positive School Climate Committee
  • Train in Safety Care and additional in-service training sessions
  • Implement proactive strategies as identified by school personnel (e.g., scheduled breaks, OT time, morning check ins)
  • Support the students in the Transition Room and re-entry into classroom
  • Support the use of de-escalation strategies (e.g., Safety Care) with staff as needed
  • Follow up with teachers to discuss student behaviors and needs
  • Support implementation of social emotional curriculum and strategies
  • Under the direction of the Assistant Principal and/or Principal, carry out systems for supporting students and collecting behavioral data
  • Under the direction of the Assistant Principal and/or Principal review data collected to share student challenges and successes
  • Such other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned by the Principal

Salary: In accordance with FEA Unit C contract
