Intervention Teaching Assistant
Mullen Hall School
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Ability and desire to work with children in need of supportive interventions
- Experience related to positive behavioral interventions or a willingness to engage in professional development
- Strong organizational skills (planning, implementing, assessing, adjusting)
- Ability to work collaboratively with adults and children
- Strong problem solving ability
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Such other alternatives as the Superintendent of Schools may deem acceptable or appropriate
Responsibilities:
- Update and report out to administration discipline logs and correspondence
- Structure recess duties/activities
- Participate in Staff Meetings
- Participate in Positive School Climate Committee
- Train in Safety Care and additional in-service training sessions
- Implement proactive strategies as identified by school personnel (e.g., scheduled breaks, OT time, morning check ins)
- Support the students in the Transition Room and re-entry into classroom
- Support the use of de-escalation strategies (e.g., Safety Care) with staff as needed
- Follow up with teachers to discuss student behaviors and needs
- Support implementation of social emotional curriculum and strategies
- Under the direction of the Assistant Principal and/or Principal, carry out systems for supporting students and collecting behavioral data
- Under the direction of the Assistant Principal and/or Principal review data collected to share student challenges and successes
- Such other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned by the Principal
