THE POSITION This candidate will need to run a large, multi-tiered curricular choral program, including one non-auditioned and three select ensemble classes with mixed and treble voicings, as well as the combined Symphonic Choir, various special ensembles, and the co-curricular a cappella program. Including weekly after school a cappella rehearsals, as well as, evening and after school choral rehearsals as needed. Responsibilities include planning and executing the winter and spring concerts and the June chamber series, as well as other performances, festivals and competitions. Additional responsibilities include advising student leaders and teaching assistants, mentoring student arranges and composers, pursuing unique opportunities such as national television appearances, and collaborating with community and professional ensembles. Prepare students for Honor Choir and college auditions, work with the music parents' association, and communicate with parents, colleagues, and administration.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Appropriate NJ Certification required.
- Meets NJ standards for HQT in the subject matter.
- Demonstrated knowledge in content area.
- Previous teaching experience at grade level preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.

- Teaching experience preferred, but not required.

- Proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
JOB GOAL(S)
To provide instructional leadership in the classroom in accordance with the course of study approved by the Board of Education approved curriculum.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implements instruction to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and objectives.
- Employs instructional methods and available materials that are appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
- Assesses the performance of students on a continuing basis and provides progress reports as required.

- Communicates with colleagues, students, and parents.
