Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Staff Development and Human Resources

Duties:
1. Develop and implement policies and regulations relating to curriculum and instruction.
2. Provide leadership to committees charged with the development of specific programs.
3. Prepare budget for curriculum and staff development and other programs directly
supervised.
4. Conduct teacher and principal evaluations.
5. Establish, coordinate and interpret district wide testing and student evaluation programs
and prepare required SED reports.
6. Supervise all locally developed curriculum maps, guides, benchmark assessments and
common formative assessments.
7. Secure and develop instructional resources such as software, textbooks and educational
technology.
8. Understand and implement the district's mission, vision and initiatives and provide
support with other district leaders in their efforts to realize the district's goals.
9. Work collaboratively with the fellow assistant superintendents on federal and state
grants.
10. Support the continued growth and development of all stakeholders.
11. Organize the recruitment and employment of all district personnel.
a. Professional staff - coordinate recruitment, on-boarding and retention
b. Service employees - coordinate recruitment, on-boarding and continuation of
employment in accordance with Civil Service regulations
c. Serve as district's Civil Service Appointing Officer
12. Evaluate all prospective candidates' credentials and experience to make salary/wage
recommendations to the Superintendent.
13. Assume responsibility for maintenance of employee benefit programs including
determination of eligibility, enrollment and/or cancellation of health insurance, life
insurance, and retirement system membership.
14. Oversee district employee personnel files and databases, including those related to
seniority.
15. Plan and lead training/professional development sessions for all instructional and noninstructional employees.
16. Facilitate in-service and collaborate with key stakeholders in regard to employee health
and safety.
17. Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent

Qualifications:
1. New York State Certification as a School District Leader (SDL), or School District Administrator (SDA)
2. Ten or more years of combined experience as a classroom teacher, supervisor and/or administrator
3. Knowledge of current curriculum, instruction, and assessment initiatives
4. Knowledge of Education Law/Civil Service
Law/Regulations as applicable to personnel
5. Proven experience facilitating professional development for all district employees
6. Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
7. Understanding of the district?s mission and vision with an ability to support district initiatives
