QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Massachusetts Licensure in Secondary English;
  • SEI Endorsement preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in the successful motivation of students at varying levels of achievement;
  • Understanding of curriculum design and development;
  • Knowledge of MA Curriculum Frameworks;
  • Experience with Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI) or other reading remediation methods, preferred;
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Such other alternatives as the Superintendent of Schools may deem acceptable or appropriate.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide English and reading instruction for 8th grade students;
  • Develop daily and long-range plans for each course taught based on the MA Curriculum Frameworks and English department expectations;
  • Employ a variety of teaching techniques to ensure student engagement and achievement;
  • Develop and state a clear and consistent grading procedure for courses;
  • Keep accurately the appropriate grading and attendance records;
  • Combine a concern for effective relationships with students with strong interests in the subject;
  • Utilize SEI strategies to support all learners assigned;
  • Communicate effectively with parents, counselors, and special education case managers about the progress of individual students;
  • Accept supervision and guidance from Department Head and Principal;
  • Fulfill assigned supervisory and homeroom duties;
  • Continue to grow in the position through participation in professional development opportunities;
  • Such other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned by the Principal and/or Department Head.


SALARY: In accordance with FEA contract
