Reports To: School Director

Position Description:

The goal of a Bilingual Program Instructional Coach is to provide high-quality and rigorous instruction in the classroom and simultaneously provide a model for their teaching team. In addition, this person provides targeted coaching support to individual teachers based on both preference and need. Ultimately, a Bilingual Program Instructional Coach increases opportunities for teachers to receive actionable feedback from a peer, thus strengthening both their practice and the student learning experience.

In addition to responsibilities of a push-in teacher providing bilingual instruction, Bilingual Program Instructional Coaches will:

Instructional Leadership
  • Model instructional and social-emotional best practices and serve as model classroom
  • Responsible for effective instruction that leads to growth in student outcomes as measured by the Distinctive Schools teaching framework
  • Provide ongoing support to grade level colleagues in navigating, accessing, and analyzing multiple data measures and tools


Program Coordination
  • Dedicate time for program coordination in alignment with the DS Instructional Coaching Model
  • Advocate for equitable and high-quality instruction for all culturally and linguistically diverse students
  • Ensure CLD & Bilingual program alignment with local, state, and federal guidelines
  • Ensure State-mandated assessment accommodations are followed
  • Collaborate with special education staff to ensure that ELs with IEPs are serviced appropriately


Instructional Coaching
  • Move the performance of individuals on coaching caseload through goal-setting, observation, co-teaching, modeling, and feedback
  • Informally observe teachers using the DS Framework and provide them with meaningful feedback
  • Prioritize needs around teachers who need most support (e.g,. new teachers) by supporting them in the classroom
  • Create tools (e.g., checklists, observation protocols, conversation agendas, etc.) to support teacher goals


Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Illinois Professional Educators License
  • Bilingual Spanish Endorsement
  • Type 29 Certificate
