Elementary Summer School Coordinator

SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT
The Elementary Summer School/Program Coordinator will organize and manage the IN-PERSON Elementary Summer Learning and Enrichment Programs at Clover Street School from July 6 - 29 (excluding Fridays). The Summer Program Coordinator is responsible for the administration of the in-person Elementary Summer Learning and Enrichment Programs, including planning and coordination, program implementation, attendance, intermediate student and staff supervision and discipline.

  • Must possess or be eligible for 092Attend a mandatory training on June 16thMust work the entire program in-person and report 45 minutes prior to start of program and remain 45 minutes after

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Foster a safe and positive school climateCollaborate to promote clear expectations, well-defined channels of communication and relationships between students, staff, parents/guardians.Coordinate the implementation of the Summer Learning Program (Summer School) and Summer Enrichment ProgramOrganize and schedule student activities including lunch and physical educationSupervise summer staff and students and oversee attendancePrepare summer school reports as required by Federal/state regulations or Board of Education policies.Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services.
NOTE: The above description is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities. It is not meant to be all inclusive of every task or responsibility. Summer school personnel must be able to attend the orientation on June 16th and work the entire program time. No vacation or personal time will be granted. Hiring will take place in May and based on student enrollment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiates instruction based upon student learning stylesKnowledge of elementary school curriculum and conceptsKnowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and studentsAbility to use computer network system and software applications as neededAbility to organize and coordinate IN-PERSON workAbility to communicate effectively with students and parents
Qualifications:
  • Connecticut Teacher Certification required and 092 preferredExperience teaching and coordinating summer school preferredSatisfactory attendance/performance
Education
  • Bachelors from an accredited college or university in Elementary or Secondary Education or related discipline applicable to teaching assignment
Reports To
  • Assistant Superintendent for Instructional Services
