Middle School Summer Enrichment Teacher
We are hiring certified and non-certified WPS personnel to facilitate IN-PERSON summer enrichment courses at Windsor High School from July 6 - 29 (excluding Fridays). Session 1 will be held July 6-15 and session 2 will be held July 19-29.

SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT
The middle school summer enrichment teacher will be responsible for facilitating one enrichment course (see selection below) to engage middle school students in problem solving, critical thinking and social-emotional learning. The middle school summer enrichment teacher will work directly with the Director of Arts and Humanities or the Director of STEM to plan and implement one of the following middle school enrichment courses:
Forensic Science (STEM): Learn and practice the basic principles of forensic science ; get the whole CSI experience! Students will use a forensic science lab kit to apply the building blocks of science to solve a forensic mystery.
Paint Your Own Pottery (Art): Learn about glaze and a variety of techniques to paint premade bisque-ware. Students will learn application techniques and how to use color to design an eye catching piece.

Anime and Manga (Art): Use computerized smart devices to create your own,hand drawn comic, story, or short film.

Online Marketing and Product Making (STEM): Learn about online Marketing and product design. Learn about how to create a product, sell it, earn cash, and how to manage your money. This class will help students create their online voice, develop creative content and designs, and tap into photography skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Attend orientation on or around June 16, 2021
2. Work directly with the Director of Arts and Humanities or the STEM Director to plan enrichment course
3. Order and prepare all materials needed for the enrichment course in advance of the enrichment course
4. Record attendance
5. Communicate with families
6. Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Summer Lead Teacher/Coordinator and/or Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services

NOTE: The above description is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities. It is not meant to be all inclusive of every task or responsibility. Summer school personnel must be able to attend the orientation on June 16th and work the entire program time. No vacation or personal time will be granted. Hiring will take place in May and based on student enrollment.

Qualifications
  • Connecticut Teacher Certification preferredSatisfactory attendance/performance
Education
  • Bachelors from an accredited college or university in Elementary or Secondary Education or related discipline applicable to teaching assignment

  • Summer Lead Teacher/Coordinator
