Intermediate Summer Enrichment Teacher
We are hiring certified and non-certified WPS personnel to facilitate IN-PERSON summer enrichment courses tentatively scheduled at Clover Street School from July 6 - 29 (excluding Fridays).

SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT
The intermediate summer enrichment teacher will be responsible for facilitating one enrichment course (see selection below) to engage intermediate students in problem solving, critical thinking and social-emotional learning. The intermediate summer enrichment teacher will work directly with the Director of Arts and Humanities or the Director of STEM to plan and implement one of the following enrichment courses:
Project Lead the Way (STEM): Tap into students' exploratory nature through engagement and learning that feels like play, and encourages them to keep discovering. PLTW Launch includes interdisciplinary learning that brings learning to life and helps students build upon each other and relate to the world around them.

Murals and More (Art): Learn fundamentals of drawing and painting by creating a mural in one of our school buildings. Students will have an avenue for self-expression and voice, by using art to make something meaningful and beautiful.

What's Your Problem (STEM/Humanities): ? Learn reading comprehension through real life and engaging math word problems while practicing your multiplication and division skills. Discover that careful reading leads to more successful math outcomes. Learn to transfer skills to all academic areas.
Loving Logic and Brain Teasers (Humanities): Exercise parts of your brain to help boost brain activity and encourage systematic thinking, build confidence, and have fun. Students will work independently and in groups through puzzles and brain teasers.

RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Attend orientation on or around June 16, 2021
2. Work directly with the Director of Arts and Humanities or the STEM Director to plan enrichment course
3. Order and prepare all materials needed for the enrichment course in advance of the enrichment course
4. Record attendance
5. Communicate with families
6. Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Summer Lead Teacher/Coordinator and/or Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services.

NOTE: The above description is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities. It is not meant to be all inclusive of every task or responsibility. Summer school personnel must be able to attend the orientation on June 16th and work the entire program time. No vacation or personal time will be granted. Hiring will take place in May and based on student enrollment.

Qualifications:
  • Connecticut Teacher Certification preferredSatisfactory attendance/performanceProject Lead the Way Training (for Project Lead the Way Enrichment Course)
Education
  • Bachelors from an accredited college or university in Elementary or Secondary Education or related discipline applicable to teaching assignment

  • Summer Lead Teacher/Coordinator
