Elementary Summer Learning Program Teacher
We are hiring certified elementary teachers to provide IN-PERSON physical education and social-emotional learning to elementary students mornings from July 6 - July 29, 2021 (excluding Fridays). The in-person Summer Learning Program will be tentatively held at Oliver Ellsworth School and/or Clover Street School. Mandatory orientation for Summer Learning staff will be tentatively held on June 16, 2021. Summer Learning personnel must be able to attend the orientation and work the entire program. Hours are not flexible and no extended vacation or personal time will be granted. Final hiring decisions and location will be dependent upon enrollment which will not be finalized until May.

RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Attend orientation/training on or around June 16, 2021
2. Provide physical education and social-emotional learning to meet the needs of students
3. Provide an educational climate based upon mutual respect, rapport, fairness, and consistency
4. Interact positively with students, family, staff, and community members, including but not limited to drop off at lunch/summer camp or parent/guardian pick-up
5. Encourage parent involvement and maintain good relationships with families
6. Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Summer Lead Teacher/Coordinator or Assistant Superintendent for Instructional Services.

CRITERIA FOR SELECTION OF SUMMER SCHOOL STAFF
  • All candidates must hold appropriate Connecticut Certification. Grade level and subject area experience preferredSatisfactory performance and attendanceKnowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiates instruction based upon student learning stylesKnowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and studentsAbility to organize and coordinate IN-PERSON workAbility to communicate effectively with students and parentsInterviews may be required for the position
Education
Bachelors from an accredited college or university in Elementary Education or related discipline applicable to teaching assignment

Experience
Successful prior physical education teaching experience for the appropriate grade levels preferred.
