Job Description
Job Goal:
The Out of District Coordinator is responsible for the provision of services being provided to New Bedford students being educated outside of the local School District. This position also requires ongoing contact with receiving schools and programs as well as parent contact and collaboration with District-based staff for re-entry.
Performance and Responsibilities:
•Contact/send out referral packets to potential placements
•Coordinate visits and meet parents/student/staff for intakes
•Contact placements, outside agencies, and parent/guardian to schedule IEP Teams
•Set up student transportation
•Visit and monitor student and schools on a periodic basis
•Generate all IEP paperwork as required by regulation
•Chair/Co-Chair IEP Teams
•Review and edit final IEP's and transition plans, send all plans to student/ parent/ SESP for signatures
•Assemble completed /signed IEP documents to Central File for processing
•Assemble/mail out documents for 688 referrals
•Contact and arrange for outside vendors ( i.e. ASL interpreters, Psychologists, Related Service providers to evaluate students.)
when needed
•Meet with/ consult with district legal counsel
•Collect/track attendance, progress reports and grades
•Submit transcript packages to NBHS for credit checks
•In late spring arrange transportation for extended school year students
•Organize daily schedule to meet caseload requirements and uses indirect time appropriately
•Responsible for maintaining licensure and meeting professional development requirements for licensure
•Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Special Education and Student Services

Job Requirements
Qualifications: 1. Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Special Education, Social Work, Guidance/School Adjustment Counselor or related subject. 2. Certification as a Special Education teacher, Social Worker, Guidance/School Adjustment Counselor, or related. 3. Knowledge of federal and state regulations governing the provision of special education and the special education process. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a school year, Non-Union position. Work days: 195 Salary based on experience.
