Position Summary : The Juneau School District located in the capital city of Alaska is seeking an outstanding educational leader to serve as the Teaching & Learning Coordinator beginning with the 2021-2022 school year. Under direction of the Director of Teaching and Learning Support, and with minimal supervision, incumbent is responsible for coordinating federal grants (ESEA) and associated budgets; and, assisting the Director in coordinating district-wide professional learning opportunities; and, providing management and budget oversight for other grants such as School Improvement 1003(a), 21st Century Community Learning Center (Title IV-B), etc.
Required qualifications :
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in education or closely-related field.
- Must have, or be eligible for, Alaska Type B administrative certificate and an Alaska Initial or Professional teaching certificate.
- At least three years of successful classroom teaching experience.
- Demonstrated experience delivering training to various groups.
- Demonstrated experience managing grant budgets.
- Ability to reliably travel around the district to various school sites during the business day.
- Proven leadership skills to include student advocacy and staff community building
- Strong communication skills with school staff and community at large
- Organized, detail-oriented, solid follow through
- Submit ESEA application annually and develop and manage associated budgets
- Ensure compliance with federal rules and regulations regarding federal and state grants
- Coordinate the School Improvement Plan process with state designated schools granted 1003(a) funding
- Coordinate the district school action planning process for school improvement
- Title I School Program support and development (with Title I-A elementary schools)
- Staff development activities and inservice planning and budgeting with TLS Director
- Staff Development Mini-Grant Coordination (a Title II-A activity)
- Family Engagement resource development (a Title I-A activity) and coordination with other parent and family engagement grant initiatives
- Conduct and disseminate research on effective instruction practices and school improvement processes
- Work with the assessment coordinator to identify district and school data needed to communicate direction for program and professional development.
- Provide administrator support and budget oversight for other grants such as School Improvement 1003(a), 21st Century Community Learning Center (Title IV-B), etc.
- Serve as the district grant process manager, coordinating the development of new grant initiatives
