LIBRARY MEDIA SPECIALIST
Wilbur Cross School

RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Develops library procedures and routines by planning daily activities
• Establishes rules and procedures for circulation of materials
• Creates an environment that is conducive to active and participatory learning, resource-based instructional practices, and collaboration with teaching staff
• Shares with the learning community collaboratively developed and up-to-date district policies concerning such issues as materials selection, circulation, reconsideration of materials, copyright, privacy, and acceptable use
• Encourages the use of instructional technology to engage students and to improve learning
• Commits to remaining current in professional practices and developments, information technologies, and educational research
• Collaborates with teachers and students to design and teach engaging inquiry and learning experiences and assessments that incorporate multiple literacies and foster critical thinking
• Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS :

• Required certification: School Library-Media Specialist (062); Master's degree preferred.
• Three years' successful experience in an urban setting preferred.
• Experience in the use of educational technology.
• Excellent oral and written communication and human relation skills.

Salary will be in accordance with the BEA contract salary schedule.
