POSITION: Human Resources Specialist

REPORTS TO: Chief Talent Officer


PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Human Resources Specialist provides support to the Human Resources leader and team in various functional areas, including special projects. Also performs administrative responsibilities for the entire Human Resources Department.

RESPONSIBILITES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Answer the main telephone line and central department email address; follow through with internal and external customer requests for services and information.
  2. Route or answer correspondence to the appropriate HR team member, noting the priority of the request.
  3. Coordinate requests for information and services for of all items in the department email box.
  4. Assting with new-hire process; including all necessary paperwork, entering employee information into HRIS/Payroll system, Board Actions, and creating new employee files.
  5. Provide assistance to employees who submit name changes, address changes, beneficiary changes, direct deposit, and W-4 changes.
  6. Process supply orders and purchase orders for supplies, as needed.
  7. Create and maintain district personnel files.
  8. Collect and organize health screening forms.
  9. Complete both written and verbal verifications of employment for current and former employees.
  10. Assist with processing and tracking unemployment claims.
  11. Provide administrative support to Director of Human Resources.
  12. Provide additional support to HR staff with other clerical duties as needed.
  13. Process tuition reimbursement requests.
  14. Manage employee training and development (Act 48 and Act 45 hours).
  15. Safe School (employee training) administration and tracking.
  16. Assist with talent aquisition, benefit open enrollment, processing daily attendance, mailing COBRA notices, volunteers, and address/employee name changes in benefit portals, and other special projects as assigned.
Essential Job Skills
  1. Must possess excellent customer service skills, including good written and verbal communication, and the ability to deal with stressful interpersonal situations in a courteous and responsible manner at all times
  2. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and the ability to use these tools to be highly organized
  3. Typing and multi-tasking skills
  4. Problem-solving skills
  5. Must be a self-starter, independent, and proactive worker
Qualifications:
  • High school graduate, Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Prior experience required, preferrably in an HR environment
