JOB GOAL:

To assist the teacher with teaching objectives by working with individual students or small groups to help them achieve classroom and individual goals.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Valid State of Arizona Teaching Certificate.
  2. Meets all certification requirements for the grade level/subject area.
  3. Fingerprint clearance for State of Arizona


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to the following:

  1. Plans and implements a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students within the district curriculum
  2. Uses effective teaching techniques and materials to implement established curriculum goals and objectives
  3. Maintains and updates IEPs for special education students using a computer-based system
  4. Monitors and assesses student progress in order to provide feedback on a regular basis to students and their parents
  5. Diagnoses, instructs and evaluates specific student needs and seeks the assistance of district specialists as required
  6. Communicates goals and/or objectives to students in a well-planned, organized manner using clear and precise language
  7. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students
  8. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing the development of proper student behavior
  9. Creates educational experiences that provide each student the opportunity to develop his/her potential in the areas of personal-social adjustment, decision-making, positive self-image and other life skills
  10. Promotes and follows the adopted school district philosophy, policies, regulations and administrative procedures
  11. Communicates concerns and ideas with colleagues, students, parents and community in a positive, professional and ethical manner
  12. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence
  13. Assumes individual responsibilities which may be assigned by the principal/supervisor and which may relate to committee work, student activities, student supervision or other planning and professional assignments
  14. Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands and arms, stand, bend or stoop. The employee is frequently required to move about the campuses and to drive to the schools and departments in the District. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.

COMPENSATION: Hourly rate of $30/hour

BENEFITS: As per District policy

REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education and Principal

EVALUATION: Annually by Principal/Special Education Director in accordance with Board policy

CLASSIFICATION: Hourly, 5 HOURS PER DAY (4 DAYS A WEEK) 20 HOURS PER WEEK
