$45,000/year minimum*, final salary dependent upon education and experience.



Candidates must hold, or be eligible to hold, a teaching certificate issued by the Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board with an endorsement in 5-8 English Language Arts and 5-8 Social Studies. (Candidates with 6-12 endorsements who are willing to complete certification requirements for the 5-8 endorsement will be considered. Candidates with an endorsement in either English Language Arts or Social Studies who are willing to complete certification requirements for the other area will be considered.)

Other desired qualifications include: Master's degree, National Board Certification, and/or experience in settings with similarities to the UW Lab School; Commitment to learner-centered education along with innovative and research-based best practices; Knowledge of and experience with mentoring pre-service educators and partnering with a teacher education program; A bility to build strong relationships with students, colleagues, parents, and community partners; Knowledge of and experience with: multi-age classrooms and groups, integrated curriculum, project-based learning, inquiry learning, service learning, outdoor education, experiential learning, and other innovative approaches to interesting, relevant, meaningful learning.

Description: The UW Lab School is located on the University of Wyoming campus and serves students in grades K-8. This position provides English Language Arts and Social Studies instruction for middle school students including one section of 5th/6th grade English Language Arts, one section of 7th/8th Grade English Language Arts, two sections of 5th-8th grade Social Studies, intervention/enrichment opportunities, and exploratory electives. Authentic, rigorous experiences are connected to real world learning and student engagement is maintained by providing relevant learning opportunities, integrating curriculum and addressing cross-curricular connections, inclusion of field trips and outdoor education, and involving students in projects. A focus on teaching and learning is sustained through effective collaboration and active participation in Professional Learning Community work. The school utilizes a K-8 standards-referenced report card to communicate proficiency on standards and reflect performance on academic success behaviors and citizenship. In addition, this position provides mentorship and supports learning experiences for pre-service teachers including observations, interviews, practicum experiences, and student teaching residencies.
