Essex Westford School District has an anticipated opportunity for a Coordinator of Equity & Inclusion at Essex High School. This position is expected to begin in the 2021-2022 school year.

The Coordinator of Equity and Inclusion will lead and support equity efforts at EHS and the implementation of EWSD and EHS equity policy and practice. This position is designed to accelerate EHS advancement toward the goal of eliminating opportunity gaps, ensuring all staff increase their cultural competence, removing systemic barriers from students and families, and collaborating with leaders, teachers, and community groups. The Coordinator of Equity & Inclusion will serve to connect equity efforts across the school and ensure equity is a component of the school's continuous improvement efforts specific to centering experiences and perspectives of historically underrepresented student groups.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Advise school administrators, staff, and constituents for the purpose of promoting awareness of issues of equity and inclusion at EHS.
  • Ensure EHS's focus on trends related to equity for the purpose of leading changes that ensure all students are college and career ready.
  • Collaborate with EWSD and EHS leadership and management for the purpose of identifying existing barriers and strategies to assure a diverse and culturally sustaining workforce.
  • Collaborate with EWSD and EHS leadership and staff for the purpose of designing professional development opportunities and aligned with equity goals.
  • Collaborate with EHS leaders to oversee the implementation of the EWSD Equity Policy for the purpose of advancement toward the goals of eliminating the opportunity gaps, success for each child and becoming an Antiracist Organization.
  • Collaborate with data team to compile and analyze data from a variety of sources for the purpose of identifying issues, ensuring compliance with various policies and procedures, and/or monitoring program components.
  • Develop approaches to professional development for the purpose of improving staff's capacity to deliver on the EWSD vision and theory of action.
  • Ensure access for EHS leaders in bolstering their equity leadership, collaboration approaches and communication for the purpose of ensuring EHS employees fulfill their roles as leaders for equity.
  • Assist in implementation and evaluation of EWSD Equity Policy Implementation Plan for the purpose of continuous improvement and course correction as needed.
EWSD is seeking candidates with a passion for building a school community in which all students, staff and families can thrive. Previous experience developing and leading equity and inclusion programs is strongly preferred.

Individuals with the following qualifications are encouraged to apply:
  • Applicants should have a minimum of one (1) year professional experience in an equity and inclusion related field. Master's Degree or higher preferred with experience in developing and leading equity and inclusion programs.
  • Strong background in education required. Previous teaching/school administrative experience and/or strong background in special education or alternative education preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge of motivational theory, group dynamics, process skills, organizational theory/management and systemic change to create conditions for success for students, families and staff.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Embrace change towards the improvement of systems. Open to new ideas and tasks without resistance; able to deal with new situations well.
