  • TITLE: DIRECTOR OF TECHNOLOGY

    Reports To: District Superintendent and evaluated by the District Superintendent or designee
    FLSA Status: Exempt
    Job Focus:The position of Director of Technology was established for the purpose(s) of evaluating, planning, directing, and implementing the acquisition and application of technology to support the District's master technology plan; Supervises the District's technology team.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    • Demonstrate support for the mission, beliefs, and goals of the Community Consolidated Schools District 168.
    • Uphold the established Board of Education policies, regulations, and administrative procedures.
    • Interpret and enforce district policies and administrative regulations.
    • Assess, support, and maintain the administrative needs of the school community by:
      • Addressing the need for district technology planning and alignment
      • Developing a district structure to support technology uses and the users at the building level in coordination with the Business Office and the Office of Instructional Services
      • Developing a district-wide Staff Development Program for technology professional development.
      • Developing budget allocations at the building and district level which directly support technology planning and purchasing in coordination with the District Business Manager
    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
    1. Oversees the Technology Department.
    2. Administers the District E-Rate application implementation.
    3. Responsible for the development and implementation of the District's Technology Plan.
    4. Identifies critical operational and educational technology needs that support District goals.
    5. Analyzes the district budget for the allocation of funds to support the technology needs of the educational environment and business functions.
    6. Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders for the purpose of implementing and maintaining services and programs.
    7. Coordinates the district technology asset inventory and keeps an up-to-date inventory of all on-site and off-site hardware, instructional, and business technology equipment.
    8. Coordinates application software purchases, licensing and implementation with the curriculum department.
    9. Oversees the district's compliance with SOPPA's requirements.
    10. Develops liaisons with business sources and school support groups for the purpose of subsidizing the acquisition of new technology by soliciting and obtaining funding,hardware,software,expertise and/orcommunity support.
    11. Develops an awareness of the educational and administrative needs of the school community.
    12. Facilitates meetings, workshops, seminars, etc. for the purpose of identifying issues, developing recommendations, supporting staff, and serving as a District representative.
    13. Participates in a variety of meetings for the purpose of conveying and gathering information regarding the status of district technology needs.
    14. Prepares reports of technology progress to community, teachers, students, administrators and the Board of Education.
    15. Provides leadership and technical support for the purpose of designing, developing and maintaining an efficient, unified, and fully integrated technology system.
    16. Responsible for the District Technology Committee.
    17. Supports technology planning for communication systems at district schools.
    18. Supports the infrastructure needed for global access to information at district schools.
    19. Responsible for administration of current technology.
    20. Keeps administrators abreast of cutting-edge technology and the relevance and application for the instructional and administrative programs.
    21. Coordinates instruction to encourage integration of technology in the curriculum.
    22. In collaboration with administrative teams, analyzes usage and student performance data of instructional technology programs and make recommendations for continued use.
    23. Conducts walkthroughs to ensure effective instructional practices are utilized in the delivery of technology-based instruction. Makes training recommendations and facilitates training as needed.
    24. Establishes an environment encouraging creative and independent use of instructional technology.
    25. Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the Technology Department.


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    1. The qualified candidate will preferably have a Master's degree from a nationally accredited college or university.
    2. The qualified candidate will also possess an Administrator license with experience.
    3. Prefer additional degree or certificate in Computer Science or related field.
    4. Must possess a minimum of three years of classroom teaching experience. Education certifications such as ISTE or Google preferred.
    5. Must possess an in-depth knowledge of computer instructional applications and curriculum development.
    6. Prior administration experience with network operations including servers, routers, switches, internet protocol, fiber optics infrastructure, firewalls, web filtering, email filtering, and database organization.
    7. Prior Information Technology experience as requested by the Board of Education and Superintendent.
    8. Experience with the Federal E-rate program is preferred.

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
    245 days per year. Salary and other benefits as established by the Board of Education.
