QUALIFICATIONS:
- Massachusetts Licensure as an elementary art teacher.
- SEI endorsement preferred
- Successful experience in teaching elementary school Art.
- Submission of a portfolio including both professional and student art work.
- Familiarity with rubrics for assessment purposes.
- Proficient classroom management skills.
- Familiarity with rubrics and assessment strategies.
- Such other alternatives as the Superintendent of Schools may deem acceptable and appropriate.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach classes in Art using a variety of two-dimensional and three-dimensional Medias and techniques. Elements of art and the Principles of design.
- Cooperate with art teachers and those in other curriculum areas to develop and implement curriculum objectives based on the learning standards of the Art curriculum and State frameworks.
- Organize and facilitate student art shows, focus on artistic development in children and adolescents.
- Implement a variety of teaching and assessment techniques (including formative and summative) to ensure student achievement and engagement.
- Maintain an organized classroom (materials, supplies, art resources).
- Cooperate with teachers in other discipline areas to develop a positive and inclusive school-wide culture
- Evaluate classroom activities on a regular basis in respect to district/departmental goals
- Maintain all attendance and grade records.
- Accept supervision and guidance from the Fine Arts Department Head and Principal.
- Continue to grow in the position through attendance at meetings, conferences, seminars, through readings in professional literature and through enrollment in college or university courses.
- Such other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned by the Principal, Department Head and/or Assistant Superintendent.
