    Job Title Summer Camp Teachers: Certified and Non-Certified Job Description Join the Westport Continuing Education (WCE) team this summer and work with kids to foster great summer camp experiences and fun! WCE seeks a motivated, creative and energetic Lead Teachers to plan, implement, and lead daily camp activities for grades K-9. Suggested lesson plans, themes, and activities will be provided that feature hands-on and engaging activities that support learning and skill-building. Activities include STEAM, literacy, arts and crafts, social studies, and math. Games and activities seek to promote social/emotional learning, critical thinking, perseverance and teamwork. Summer Teachers serve as role models, building positive relationships and promoting a safe environment for campers to learn, play, and thrive. Lead teachers are expected to cultivate an engaging and fun camp culture, actively participating in all activities. The ideal candidate has prior experience supervising and teaching children with the flexibility to adapt to a wide range of age groups, different learning styles, and neurodiversity. Schedule Discovery Camp, grades K - 5 Hours are 8:15am - 12:45pm; Monday through Friday from June 28 - August 6 (no programs on July 5). Opportunities for afternoon camps for qualified applicants are 12:30 - 2:30 pm. Sports & Fun and Sports Fusion Camps, grades 1 - 8 Mornings: 8:30 am–11:45 am / Afternoons: 12:15 pm–3:30 pm and / or Full-day: 8:30 am–3:30 pm per week Summer Experience Mornings, 9:00 - 11:15am. Teachers incorporate social / emotional skill-building with hands-on activities. Responsibilities ? Plan and implement daily activities for students entering grades K-8. Depending on the camp, activities include games, sports, arts and crafts, social studies, math, and STEAM. ? Assists with promoting positive social-emotional skills, behavior and group management, and safety. ? Maintains a positive, caring demeanor and demonstrates enthusiasm, actively participating in all activities with campers and staff throughout the day. ? Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication; using clear, concise and professional language when interacting with campers, camp families and staff. ? Helps to ensure that classrooms, storage areas and equipment are organized and used safely. ? Follows WCE policies and procedures, and notifies supervisors of any issues or concerns as it relates to schedule, facility, equipment or behaviors that need to be addressed. Qualifications ? Teacher Certification or working towards certification preferred, but not required. ? Must have completed at least 2 years of college or work equivalent experience. ? Preferred candidate has a background or experience in education or relevant field. ? Previous experience and demonstrated commitment to working with elementary and / or middle school children. ? Prior camp experience preferred. ? Flexibility and adaptability, familiar with working with diverse populations. ? Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. ? High-energy, enthusiastic & creative. Compensation $35 - $45 / hour depending on certification.
