(Contingent upon funding) - CBH position - full-time permanent teaching position beginning at the start of the 2021/2022 school year.

Under the direction of the appropriate manager of Specialized Instruction and Services and in accordance with federal, state and district mandates, the special educator provides specially designed instruction, academic, and behavioral supports to students in the least restrictive environment.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Good communication and human relation skills needed in order to collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, students, parents and community agencies,Ability to work effectively and cooperatively as a member of the Team of Qualified Professionals and other school teams to implement administrative policies and procedures.

Physical Demands:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit, stand, walk or run, work at a table, computer or workstation for extended periods of time; bend at the waist, kneel or crouch, crawl, twist, stoop or lift; use close vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception; speak, hear and communicate effectively.

Salary Rate Range
Teacher Salary Scale + 2 hours per week/up to 15 days

ECH PK-2 Sp. Ed. with ECH Dual Language - Bilingual Spanish
ESL Preferred

Qualifications
  • BA Early Childhood Special Education from an accredited college or university with valid teaching certificate in Early Childhood Special Education.Valid teaching certificate in Early Childhood Special Education and ECH Dual Language Bilingual - SpanishBilingual Spanish SpeakingELL certification preferred.RI Early Learning and Developmental Standards Foundations and Classroom training, or the intent to complete within one year of employmentTwo years of experience preferred in early childhood fieldAbility to instruct and support students at the pre-school level using a collaborative approach with the general educator to embed interventions throughout the school day.Ability to develop and implement appropriate goals and objectives for each individual student.Develops Individual Educational Programs by utilizing appropriate academic, behavioral, and/or transitional data in conjunction with the recommendations of the Special Education Team.Implements instructional objectives and program needs, and accommodates individual learning styles as specified in Individual Educational Programs.Demonstrates competencies in selection and implementation of appropriate instructional methodologies to remediate areas of deficit for students with disabilities.Demonstrates the ability to ensure all components of students' Individualized Educational Programs are being implemented in all school settings.Demonstrates a willingness to maintain professional standards by remaining informed regarding current special education instructional approaches.Demonstrates the ability to work cooperatively and in partnership with the general education staff.Demonstrates the ability to ensure eligibility and IEP development is completed as necessary and in accordance with state regulations.
