Marie Philip School (MPS) our Pre-K -12+ day school, enrolls nearly 200 deaf and hard of hearing students on our Framingham campus. We are proud of our history as the first school in the United States to have adopted the ASL/English bilingual, bicultural model in a K-12 educational setting. MPS offers a full range of academics, including Honors and Advanced Placement courses, along with vocational training courses as well as intensive classes for students who have learning disabilities or developmental disabilities.

The Overnight Lead Residential Counselor will oversee the overnight program in addition to all Overnight Residential Counselors. They will be responsible for the building and provide surveillance over a group of students in a residential setting just before, during and after sleeping periods until the first class begins or staff coverage.

SUPERVISOR: Residential Supervisor

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide direct supervision and support to the residential students.
  • Provide direct and close supervision to Overnight Residential Counselors.
  • Responsible to support, plan or maintain the residential activities and independent living skills to meet identified individual residential student and/or programmatic needs.
  • Utilize database to ensure all externally and internally required reports are complete, accurate, and implemented on schedule.
  • Work collaboratively with TLC colleagues to facilitate students' educational, social, recreational and life skills activities within existing programs.
  • The hired candidate must be able to remain fully awake throughout the entire work shift. Napping and/or sleeping is strictly forbidden, whether on duty or on break.
  • Be accountable for the general supervision of residential students and to remain on duty during emergency situations.
  • Remain awake and alert in his/her assigned dormitory unless instructed otherwise by the Residential Supervisor and/or Director of Student Life.
  • Maintain residential program's expectations including the school policies and procedures.
  • Assist TLC staff with coordinating other related activities as deemed appropriate.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Residential Supervisor and/or Director of Student Life.
  • May be delegated and trained to conduct medication administration or certain medical procedure responsibilities for students.


**May be required to drive students on field trips and/or to mainstreaming classes. Additional driving responsibilities as needed.

Requirements

BA/BS degree in Human Services or equivalent preferred. High School diploma with 2 years of experience in residential setting may be equivalent

Fluent in American Sign Language

Ability to communicate and work effectively as part of a team

Ability to remain awake throughout scheduled shift

Knowledge of issues and priorities important to the students' needs in residential program preferred

Competency in Microsoft Office software programs

Willingness to work a varied schedule

A valid drivers license and a clean driving record as determined by Human Resources is required
