John Lewis is actively looking for enthusiastic Engineering (Computer, industrial, Mechanical, etc.) teachers with experience working and preparing urban scholars for global success. Candidates should be able to demonstrate Project Based Learning and collaborative best practices that supports foundational student achievement with excellence.
Responsible for imparting knowledge and skills to middle students. The candidate will utilize research-based theories and strategies to teach, organize, and implement structured lessons for technology education (engineering). This position reports to the principal and requires in-person presence at the school location site.
Instructs students through effective differentiated teaching methods to ensure comprehension and mastery of content.
Prepares engaging and challenging lessons.
Attends faculty meetings and professional learning sessions (GACTE Summer Conference, Cluster Drive-ins sponsored by the Georgia Department of Education, APS Professional Development, etc.).
Maintains and operates an active Career Technical Student Organization (CTSO).
Administers and/or supports the state and local standardized testing processes and policies.
Administers various types of assessments to monitor student's comprehension of content.
Enhances course content in the form of remediation, modification, and enrichment.
Works collaboratively with Middle/High School teachers to vertical align curriculum and best practices, where applicable.
Effectively manages the learning environment, so that it is conducive to learning.
Maintains and monitors an effective learning environment free of hazard, ridicule, and prejudice.
Assists with student management throughout the building, grounds and/or other district facilities.
Coordinates parent/teacher and student/teacher conferences to review student performance, behavior, and other issues.
Effectively communicates with students, parents, and other stakeholders via verbal and written communication.
Complies with all requirements for mandatory reporting of child abuse, illegal harassment, breaches of ethics, or any criminal activity of which the employee becomes aware.
Performs other duties as assigned by principal, immediate supervisor, and district-level administration.
Requirements :
Education: Bachelor's degree required.
Certification/License: Must hold a valid Georgia Professional Certification in Engineering and Technology Education at a T4 level or higher, or be eligible for certificate.
Work Experience: Previous teaching experience preferred, but not required.
Compensation :
Salary Grade: T4 - T7
Salary Range: APS Teacher Pay Scale
