The Dean of Programs will be responsible for leading DREAM's extended day school model and Student Life team at Mott Haven Elementary and Middle School. The ideal candidate is a reliable team player with deep expertise in and commitment to positive youth development.

This role serves grades K-2 at Mott Haven Elementary School, and founding grade 6 at Mott Haven Middle School.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Drive DREAM's Grow the Whole Child Program:
 

    • Review and refine curriculum that integrates social-emotional learning and health & wellness programming into DREAM Charter School's extended-day, extended-year model;
    • Supervise Youth Development Specialists responsible for executing on program outcomes;
    • Collaborate with Academic Deans to utilize student academic and social emotional learning achievement data to customize and improve instruction;
    • Partner with network teams responsible for the different components of the Theory of Change: academics, social-emotional learning, athletics health and wellness, and family and community engagement.

 


Student Culture Leadership:

 

 

 

    • Serve as a member of the Elementary and Middle School Leadership Teams;
    • Lead professional development of Associate Dean of Culture, Youth Development Specialists, and other members of Student Life Team;
    • Lead school staff development in large group, small group, and one-on-one settings;
    • Oversee school-wide design and implementation of Homeroom and Advisory;
    • Execute DREAM's attendance policy and intervention follow up;
    • Conduct walkthroughs, review student life data systems, and drive changes as needed to improve student culture outcomes.

 


Extended Day & Summer Program Management:

 

 

 

 

    • Oversee the design and implementation of DREAM's extended day school model;
    • Ensure program quality and compliance;
    • Own budget management;
    • Supervise full-time Program Managers to support the design and implementation of summer programming;
    • Partner with the Talent team to recruit, hire, and onboard program staff.

 


QUALIFICATIONS

 

 

 

 

    • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in education, social work, youth development or related field; Advanced degree in an education field preferred;
    • Minimum 5 years experience working with and engaging youth, families and teachers in an academic environment, with at least 2 to 3 years in a management role managing teams;
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
    • Outstanding organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment;
    • Strong critical thinking skills, including the ability to connect the dots to solve problems;
    • Successful experience leading professional development in large group, small group and one-on-one settings;
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred;

    • A strong belief in the mission and values of DREAM, including the desire to make a difference in the lives of our students, families, and community.
