  • PURPOSE

    The Virtual Virginia ("VVA") Content Developer will work with the Curriculum Development team to create digital content that aligns with Virginia Standards of Learning. The Content Developer is responsible for creating modules of well-designed and appropriately aligned online lessons, assignments, interactives, and instructional materials.

    RESPONSIBLE TO:
    VVA Curriculum Supervisor

    NOTE: this is a part-time, project-based position for the 21-22 school year that requires an average of 10 hours per week.

    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Develop digital content and instructional materials that align to appropriate state and national standards
    • Understand and apply Quality Matters principles and National Standards for Quality Online Courses to content development practices
    • Submit content and instructional materials for review by the project deadlines
    • Respond positively to constructive criticism and incorporate all requested revisions as part of the Development Process
    • Demonstrate a commitment to copyright compliance and accessibility standards in content development practices


    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Certification in the content area
    • Recent teaching experience in the content area
    • Strong pedagogical knowledge and content expertise
    • Proven ability to meet deadlines and work independently
    • Desire to improve online and blended learning
    • Demonstrated expertise in oral and written communication
    • Experience developing curriculum


    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Three or more years of recent teaching experience in the specified course
    • Curriculum development experience for online courses
    • Experience in teaching online with Virtual Virginia or another online provider
    • Experience developing video content for online courses
    • Experience developing interactive content for online courses
    • Training in Quality Matters Understanding the K-12 Rubric and/or Reviewer Course
