Teaching Assistant Task List

Behavior Support :
  • Reinforce behavior that meets CASE expectations with CASE Cash.
  • Complete point sheets throughout the day and share and celebrate progress with students. Remember that the point sheet is to acknowledge appropriate behavior.
  • Complete logs/collect data related to breaks, elopements, and other behavioral incidents and support entry of major incidents in ABLE.
  • Provide active supervision (i.e., scan, move around, interact, and acknowledge appropriate behavior) of all students across locations in the school.
  • Assist with implementation of classroom and student store.
  • Answer support calls if needed (with approval of teacher).
  • Assist with crisis intervention as needed .

Academic Prep and Instruction :
  • Assist teacher as requested with developing and leading rotation groups .
  • Assist teacher with assignment preparation ( e.g., make copie s , create and/or upload Google Classroom assignments, create Google Slides, do binders).
  • Review the Teacher's Edition for each lesson you're assigned to lead , including the learning objective for each lesson and practice guiding students toward comprehension before beginning instruction.

I-Ready/APEX/Lexia:
  • Assist Teacher with tracking minutes completed and lessons passed.

IEPs/BIPs:
  • Make IEP goal tracking documents for each student's academic and behavioral goals.
  • Place a copy of the goal tracking documents in each student's portfolio. Place another copy in a separate "IEP Goal Tracking Binder" for use during instruction.
  • Track and document progress on academic goals when leading IEP goal - informed lessons.
  • Ensure each student's "Personal Goal" on the CASE Point Sheet is related to their IEP Behavior Goal. This practice will assist with tracking Behavioral Goal Progress.
  • Read each student's IEP and BIP. Ensure familiarity with interventions to be used and avoided.

Documentation, Accountability, and Data Entry:
  • Update CASE Point Sheets throughout the day. Meet with classroom team after the students have left to verify all points are accounted for.
  • Assist with attendance as needed.
  • Assist with lunch orders as needed.
  • Update students' CASE Cash balance each afternoon.
  • Submit any necessary incident reports and Behavioral Emergency Reports (BERs) .
  • Attend morning and afternoon staff meetings and all professional development sessions as directed .
