Description

Position Summary

We are seeking a self-motivated and highly professional individual to join our accounting team as Accounts Receivable Manager. The position reports directly to the Director of Finance and will work closely with the accounting team and field operations in supporting our school network with the enrollment to payment process.

Responsibilities of the position include:

1. Lead and direct a team of nine individuals supporting the contracting, invoicing, and payment collection processes. Ensure that company procedures are followed and that issues are addressed timely. Identify gaps in processes and drive resolution to those gaps.

2. Lead and inspire "process improvement" and "customer service" mindsets amongst the team. Assist in identifying and driving improvements within the team and across the organization. This will require a high level of comfort in navigating a variety of financial and operational systems as well as working closing with operations.

3. Oversee the accounting process around students funded from public school districts or state funding agencies. This will include working with team members to ensure we are working closing with our customers (parents), operations, and outside attorney's representing our customers to ensure accurate and timely support.

4. Collaborate with colleagues to develop processes around new company initiatives which would include understanding the impact on workload and systems to ensure a smooth and accurate transition occurs.

5. Research and identify the implications of operations changes/new business initiatives to accounting processes such and accounts receivable, billing, and cash collections. Propose solutions (procedures and systems) that allows the organization to accurately and efficiently record monthly accounting transactions. This may include implementing new functionality within the organizations systems.

6. Lead the team to ensure that operations changes/new business initiatives are fully vetted and tested before they are rolled out to the organization. This will include operation changes as well as system related changes.

7. On a routine basis report out on key metrics and specific financial results to various levels of leadership. This would include modifying/developing new metrics and financial data sets to address changes in business needs as well as new leadership requests.

Position Requirements

  • 7 -10+ years of experience in overseeing/managing accounting processes.
  • High level of expertise around the accounting processes associated with revenue recognition, accounts receivable, and deferred revenue. This would include being comfortable working in a variety of systems (financial and non-financial).
  • High level of customer service experience and managing teams supporting customers.
  • Experience using Great Plains accounting software (desired, not required).
  • Experience using Microsoft BI reporting system (desired, not required).
  • Experience supporting multiple legal entities and multiple physical locations across multiple states.
  • Experience leading/participating systems conversions/implementations.
  • A strong attention to detail and be highly organized.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Diligent and self-motivated work ethic.
  • Proficient working knowledge of Excel.
  • Certified Public Accountant (desired, not required).
