SALARY : Administrator Salary Scale WORK YEAR: 260 Days
REPORTS TO : Chief of Schools
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Elementary School Principal shall use leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills to promote the educational development of each student. The Elementary School principal shall use goal setting and research based action planning to improve the academic performance of students, along with all other key school success indicators. A primary function of The Principal includes the improvement of instruction, monitoring of the standards-based curriculum, designing ongoing professional development, facilitating collaboration among teachers and staff and developing and maintaining strong relationships with all stakeholders. The principal is responsible for the outcomes of all day-to-day operations as well as managing all other fiscal priorities. The highest priority of the elementary school principal is to build and ensure a culture of high aspirations and expectations by executing systems designed to prepare students for college and career readiness.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Professional Educator License with Principal (Pk-12) Endorsement
- Masters degree from an accredited college or university
- Two or more years of experience as a Principal (preferred)
- Exemplary administrative performance evaluations
- Outstanding reference relative to demonstrated knowledge of current instructional and curricular methodologies
- Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation
- Extensive successful teaching experience at the Elementary and Middle School level, and preferably in more than one subject area or grade level. (preferred)
- Successful administrative experience at the Elementary School level. (preferred)
- Three or more years of experience working with a diverse school population.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiates instruction based upon student learning styles.
- Knowledge of Elementary school curriculum and concepts.
- Knowledge of best practices in administration, program evaluation and staff supervision.
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education.
- Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
- Ability to develop and implement projects.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
- Ability to organize multiple tasks and conflicting time constraints.
- Ability to manage and plan for school based budgets, and student activity funds.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to leadership, performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
